This week we will cover the final two sections of Chapter 6.  Section 3 (pages 142 - 146) discusses the Songhai Empire of Africa (c. 1500); Section 4 (pages 147-151) covers the Historical and Artistic Traditions of West Africa.

In Ch. 6, Section 3 the Objectives are that:
Students will learn that …

  1.  The Songhai built a new empire in West Africa.

  2.  Askia the Great ruled Songhai as an Islamic empire.

  3.  Songhai fell to Moroccan invaders, ending the great era of West African empires.
