Students will begin their 3 week Winter Break on Friday, December 17, 2010. During this time, the may choose to begin work on their HISTORY DAY PROJECT for 2011 due in Mid-FEBRUARY.

LAST WEEK BEFORE BREAK!!!

Extra CREDIT: PAY ATTENTION IN CLASS...it will all make sense soon!!! Muahahaha

This week we will cover two sections in chapter 8 (Japan), section 2, which covers Art & Culture in Heian and section three, which covers the Growth of a Military Society in Japan.

Here is a quick run down of section 2 and section 3:

In Section 2 the Objectives  are that:
Students will learn that …

  1.  Japanese nobles created great art in their court at Heian.

  2.  Buddhism changed in Japan during the Heian period.

In Section 2 the Vocabulary is:

  1. court

 In Section 3 the Objectives  are that:
Students will learn that …

  1.  Samurai and shoguns took over Japan as emperors lost influence.

  2.  Samurai warriors lived honorably.

  3.  Order broke down when the power of the shoguns was challenged by invaders and rebellions.

  4.  Strong leaders took over and reunified Japan.
