Ch. 9 The Early Middle Ages

Students, guardians/parents, and all history fans:

I'm excited to be back again and am thrilled to begin teaching you (and your student if applicable) about Medieval Europe! This is a great section in our book that students LOVE!

Here's the details for this week:

Tuesday
• Q/W (Break class into TWO groups: Northern & Southern)
--Students will write about the “Landforms/Climates/Vegetation” of the region
• Discuss Q/W
• Overview of pages 232-233 (students will be asked where they would want to live: Farms/Cities/Coastal….then they will have a small discussion encouraging differing views & perspectives
• Work on Homework
• Closure

Wednesday
• Q/W 8.2
• 8.2 Vocabulary (may take 2 days)
• Benedictine Rule Discussion (introduce monks & monasteries)
• If time allows introduce Charlemagne (p.239)
• Allow time for in class reading/homework
• Closure

Thursday
• Q/W: Complete page 238, Question #4 in class together, students will copy the response into their Q/W’s
• “Stump tha Yard”
-Students will create questions and attempt to “stump” one another…points will be awarded for both asking an appropriate question as well as answering a question correctly! Double Points for "Stumping!"
• Final time allotment (if time allows) for homework questions
• Closure
***Students PREP for homework and Quiz on FRIDAY!

Friday
• Students turn in completed Q/W’s & Homework!
• Students complete the Ch. 9 Section 1 & 2 Quiz
• Introduction of Ch. 9 Section 3 & William the Conqueror
